So far since living far across the Mackinac Bridge, I’ve shoveled feet of snow, visited the KBC Brewing Co a handful of Tuesdays ($3 craft beer, always!!!) and given XC skiing a go. I’ve also driven 18 hours to get to and from Detroit for Thanksgiving, and listened to 2 1/2 audiobooks in said trips. Now that we’re settled and I’m falling into a work + hobby routine, I’m looking forward to exploring more that the Keweenaw Peninsula has to offer.
So... How’s it going then?
It’s great in some ways, and odd in others. How’s it going for you? I work at a library now, and I absolutely love it. I get to look at and talk about books all day. Seriously, is that not a better job for me? Ask my older sister—she used to drive me to the library nearly every week one summer. I once spent entire Sundays reading. I knew my library’s young adult section like the back of my hand. Last week, my manager and I worked to create a young adult section, and I haven’t wasted any time trying to get the high school students to take a book home with them. “Just one, I swear you’ll love it, just try! Take it for holiday break!”
As for the long-term goals... I’m still working on those. Last December, someone a bit older than me said that your 20’s are spent trying to keep your head above water. You figured that you’ve outgrown your teenage uncertainty, and yet you’re still flailing in the wake of questions about your future home and career. They say it’ll become easier and you’ll start actually swimming someday, but right now, all you can hope for is endurance. I’m starting to understand that she may be right.
These last few weeks, I’ve considered writing a book, but the subject keeps changing whenever I sit down to start it. I have come to the conclusion that I shouldn’t force anything to happen, and maybe I’ll look back in awhile and see the cohesive storyline.
By the way, I need to tell more people that there’s a small town in the middle of the U.P. where domesticated rabbits run freely outside. We’re talking thirty to forty fluffy bunnies of all different colors, shapes, and sizes running all over this tiny town. Regretfully, I took no photos as we were just driving through, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. Honestly, I’m starting to wonder if Logan and I were lucidly dreaming. Someday I’ll go back to get photographic evidence.
See you next time.
