Marketing & Communications Coordinator with
UP Health System
From October 2020 to September 2022, I worked as a Marketing & Communications Coordinator with UP Health System, supporting three hospitals across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. UPHS is one of the region’s largest employers, as well as the region’s Level II Trauma Center.
The marketing team keeps the community and staff informed, markets the health services offered across the system, shares incredible patient stories happening here, and more. My team handled all internal and external communications across the system—from TV commercials and press releases to the website and social media content.
It was challenging to manage so many different projects, but we had a strong team. It also helped to hear tons of positive feedback from staff and the community about all the stories we shared and promoted. The most rewarding part of the job was being able to both share engaging stories and help frontline staff feel recognized.

Writing Samples — Testimonial Stories
True stories from real patients are extremely valuable. The Marketing team encourages providers across all specialties to let us know when a patient is interested in sharing their story.
I interviewed patients for our website, blog, and social media. Then, I created a written piece along with photos and sometimes video. Local news stations often pick up the stories I wrote by publishing them in the newspaper and/or featuring them during TV news stories.
Paid Media Samples — TV Network Spots
The marketing department worked alongside a local videography company to produce high-quality video pieces for commercial spots, rotating several times a year on sponsored networks across the Upper Peninsula. My team and I primarily focused on the script, branding, and overall messaging, while our amazing videographer handled the professional-quality lighting, camera equipment, and final editing.

I produced content like blog pieces and press releases to promote hospital services, celebrate health observances, and highlight our staff on our social media platforms.

We also created in-house videos to share on social media. To produce these videos, I wrote a storyboard/script, scheduled staff to participate in the video, filmed and captured audio, and pieced everything together using professional Adobe software: Premiere Pro and After Effects.
